Small town, big paddocks. Kandanga deliveries usually ride along with our Mary Valley runs.
Around Kandanga containers mostly get used for farm equipment, feed storage and weekender lockups. Whatever yours is for, the process is the same: one call, one delivered price, right truck for your access.

Kandanga is a small town halfway up the Mary Valley, surrounded by cattle and dairy country with a mix of lifestyle blocks and weekenders. The valley went through years of uncertainty over the proposed Traveston Crossing dam, which was cancelled in 2009, and many properties have since changed hands to people farming smaller acreages or living there part-time.
Containers turn up here for the same reasons they do across the valley: dry feed storage, machinery and tool stores, and secure lockups for owners who aren't on the property every day. A container is lockable, needs no slab, and can be moved if the plan changes.
Kandanga deliveries come up the Mary Valley road and usually run with our other valley jobs. Most properties have a gate off a sealed or gravel road and a track to the house or sheds. The things to check are gate width, grids, low power lines near the house, and whether the track crosses a creek or a flat that stays soft after rain.
The flats along Kandanga Creek and the Mary are good farming ground and poor truck ground when wet. If your preferred spot is on the flat, have a second option on higher, firmer ground in case the day turns out wet.
Low paddocks near the creeks can flood. Put the container above any water you've seen lying after heavy rain, on solid blocks or sleepers under the corners. A cargo-worthy container keeps rain out from above. It won't keep out rising water, because floodwater gets in past the door seals, and an empty container can float.
For feed storage, leave airflow around the stack. A sealed box in a humid valley traps moisture. For tools and parts, a pallet or shelving off the floor keeps them clear of any condensation. There's more in our flood-season guide.
A 20ft suits most lockups and comes on a tilt-tray, which is easier on a farm track. A 40ft doubles the space for not much more money, if there's room for a sidelifter and firm ground. A weekender who only needs to secure a few things might find a 10ft enough, although it costs more than a 20ft. Our acreage guide covers the set-up.
A lot of the properties around Kandanga are now run part-time. The owners work in Gympie, on the coast or further away, and get to the farm on weekends and holidays. For them a container does a particular job. It holds the things that can't be left out, such as the brushcutter, chainsaw, fencing tools, pump spares and a stock of feed, and it's secure enough to leave for weeks.
It helps to think of the container as a checklist. Keep the tools you always need near the door and the seasonal gear at the back. Put a padlock on the lock box and leave a spare key with a neighbour. Check the roof and seals when you visit. A container that's sited well, on supports and clear of the flats, needs very little looking after, which is what a part-time owner wants.
Permanent storage is usually bought. Cargo-worthy used units are wind and watertight. As-is units are cheaper but sold as seen and not sold watertight, so they suit wire and steel rather than feed. Hire suits a renovation, a build or a clean-out, and hire units go out cargo-worthy, wind and watertight.
Freight is quoted with the container as one delivered price. The day is confirmed at order, and in the wet it depends on the track.
Yes. Kandanga deliveries usually run with our Mary Valley trips, and the day is confirmed when you order.
Often not until they dry out. Have a firmer, higher spot as a backup, or we'll confirm the day with ground conditions in mind.
A 20ft is the usual lockup. A 10ft can do if you only need a small secure store, though it costs more than a 20ft.
Use a cargo-worthy container on raised, firm ground, and leave airflow around the stack so humidity doesn't build up.
Soft ground, steep tracks, long driveways — what actually matters when your container is going onto a property in the Gympie region, not a suburban block.
Gympie floods. A container won't keep floodwater out — nothing at this price will — but placed high on your block it's the cheapest way to get your gear above the Mary.
Amamoor, Imbil, Dagun, Melawondi, Kandanga Creek. Same deal: one delivered price, and the truck matched to your access.
