Gunalda is a small highway town north of Gympie in grazing and mixed farming country, with rural-residential blocks along the roads around it. People here use containers for machinery cover, farm and garden storage, and stock for the small businesses that trade along the highway corridor.
Because many properties are working farms or hobby farms, the jobs tend to be practical. There's somewhere dry for the slasher's spare blades, the fencing gear and feed, a lockup for tools that used to live on the back of the ute, and cover for machinery that shouldn't sit out in the weather.
Most properties around Gunalda have a gate off a sealed road and a gravel or dirt track in. In the dry that's easy tilt-tray country. Check the gate width, any grid on the way in, and power lines near the sheds. After rain, the red and grey soils can go slippery, and a loaded truck on a slope doesn't like that.
Properties with frontage to the highway itself need a safe place for the truck to turn in and pull clear of traffic. If your gate opens straight onto a fast road, tell us so we can plan the approach.
Put the container on firm, fairly level ground with the corners on blocks or sleepers, and keep it out of the path of runoff after a storm. Face the doors where you'll back a trailer or ute up to it, and leave room for them to open fully.
A cargo-worthy container keeps rain out from above. It won't keep out rising water: floodwater gets in past the door seals, and an empty container can float. Low paddocks near creeks aren't the place for it.
For machinery and implements, a 40ft gives the most floor, if there's room for a sidelifter. For parts, tools and feed, a 20ft is the usual size. Measure anything you want to drive in, such as a ride-on or a small tractor, against the door opening on the dimensions page. Our acreage guide covers the rest.
Hobby farms and bigger blocks around Gunalda usually have at least one machine that shouldn't live outside: a small tractor, a ride-on, a slasher or a quad bike. Sun perishes seats and hoses, rain gets into electrics, and rodents chew wiring on anything that sits still. A container keeps the weather off and, with the doors shut, keeps most rodents out too.
Measure first. Rollover frames and exhaust stacks are often taller than the 2.28-metre door opening of a standard container, and a high cube gives more clearance. Put a ramp or a pair of sleepers at the door so machines drive in easily, keep the batteries on a maintainer or disconnected, and don't store fuel in the same closed box. Leave room to walk around the machine for servicing.
Farm storage is usually permanent, so buying tends to make sense. Cargo-worthy used units are wind and watertight. As-is units are cheaper but sold as seen and not sold watertight, which suits steel and fencing gear better than feed. Hire covers short jobs, and hire units go out cargo-worthy, wind and watertight.
Gunalda deliveries go north up the Bruce from the Gympie side. Freight is quoted with the container as one delivered price, and the day is confirmed at order.

Sometimes. Check the tractor's width and height, including the rollover frame, against the door opening and internal dimensions first.

Soft ground, steep tracks, long driveways — what actually matters when your container is going onto a property in the Gympie region, not a suburban block.
Gympie floods. A container won't keep floodwater out — nothing at this price will — but placed high on your block it's the cheapest way to get your gear above the Mary.
