Who uses them

Valley farms, forest fringe and a big event

Amamoor sits in the Mary Valley with Amamoor Creek State Forest behind it, and it's best known as the home of the annual Gympie Music Muster in the forest. Day to day it's small farms, lifestyle blocks and people who value space and quiet. Containers here are used for property storage, machinery and tools, and by event and community groups who need secure storage for equipment used once a year.

For event storage a container is almost ideal. It locks, it keeps equipment dry between uses, and it can sit on a paddock edge for the other eleven months without anyone having to think about it.

Access

Driveway gradients and forest roads

Properties towards the forest often have steeper driveways and narrower tracks than the valley floor. A tilt-tray needs a firm, reasonably level spot and a straight run to tip a container, and a steep approach or a tight bend near the house can rule that out. Photos of the driveway, taken from the road and looking back from the drop spot, usually answer the question.

Forest roads and creek crossings can be soft after rain, and some are narrow with overhanging branches. If your access includes either, tell us before we plan the route.

Siting

Shade, fog and flood

A container in full afternoon sun gets hot inside. On a forest-fringe block you often have a choice, so use the trees or the slope for afternoon shade if you'll be working in it. Keep it back from trees that drop limbs, though.

The valley fogs, and closed steel sweats. Vents and airflow keep condensation down. Keep the container above any low ground that floods. A cargo-worthy container keeps rain out from above, but floodwater gets in past door seals and an empty container can float. Our workshop guide covers orientation and airflow in more detail.

Sizes

Property store or event lockup

A 20ft handles most property storage and is easier to place on a steeper block. For event gear such as staging, marquees, cabling and tables, a 40ft gives the length, if the site has room for a sidelifter. A high cube suits a workshop or anything tall. Our acreage guide covers rural siting.

Events

Placing a container for a site that hosts crowds

When a container supports an event site, where it goes matters as much as what's in it. It needs to be reachable by the vehicles that load and unload, clear of pedestrian paths and camping areas, and far enough from stages and generators that it isn't in the way when the site is busy. It also needs to be somewhere a truck can reach in the off-season, when grass is long and tracks are soft.

Plan the placement with whoever runs the site. Give us the access route the truck should take, the gate to use and a marked drop spot. If the container needs to be moved between events, allow for a truck to get back to it later. Inside, shelving and labelled tubs make setting up and packing down faster, and a padlock on the lock box keeps things secure through the year.

Buy or hire

Year-round storage or a one-off

Groups and property owners who need storage year after year usually buy, because it's cheaper over time and the container keeps its value. Cargo-worthy used units are wind and watertight. As-is units are cheaper, but they're sold as seen and not sold watertight, so they're not the choice for sound or electrical gear. Hire suits a one-off event or a build, and hire units go out cargo-worthy, wind and watertight.

Amamoor deliveries run with our Mary Valley trips. Freight is quoted with the container, and the day is confirmed at order.

Amamoor: straight answers

Can a container be used for event storage at Amamoor?

Yes. A cargo-worthy container keeps event equipment dry and locked between uses. A 40ft suits long items such as staging and marquees if there's room for a sidelifter.

Can you deliver to a steep block near the forest?

Often, but steep drives and narrow forest roads need checking. Send photos of the approach and drop spot and we'll confirm the truck.

How do I stop condensation in a container in the valley?

Add vents high at one end and low at the other, keep the container off the ground on supports, and keep stored items off the floor and walls.

Is Amamoor in the Gympie Regional Council area?

Yes. Check with Gympie Regional Council about permanent placement or any fit-out.
